San Diego Symposium 2025

The 29th American Peptide Symposium represents a showcase of scientific excellence, groundbreaking research, and global collaboration. With record-breaking attendance, the energy in San Diego was electric — a reflection of the surging impact of peptide science across disciplines.

Attendees were treated to an extraordinary lineup of talks, spanning from the frontiers of peptide therapeutics to innovations in sustainable manufacturing, AI-driven drug discovery, structural biology, material science, and computational design.

The theme of "Peptides Rising" truly encapsulated the momentum of the field — with sessions designed to highlight the most pressing challenges and the most exciting breakthroughs.

Our keynote lectures by Dame Margaret Brimble and Dr. Scott Miller were nothing short of inspiring, while award lectures from luminaries like Dek Woolfson, Ashraf Brik, Phil Dawson, Krishna Kumar, William Lubell, and Elizabeth Parkinson brought depth, vision, and creativity to center stage.

This year’s Symposium wasn’t just a meeting — it was a celebration of the resilience, creativity, and boundless curiosity that defines the global peptide community. The future of peptide science has never looked brighter — and is indeed rising.

As my term as President of the American Peptide Society draws to a close, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made the 29th American Peptide Symposium such a resounding success.

A deep and sincere thank you to our exceptional symposium co-chairs — Jean Chmielewski, Wendy Hartsock, and Eileen Kennedy — whose vision, tireless efforts, and dedication created a truly world-class event. I am equally grateful to the Young Investigator Committee, whose leadership continues to foster the next generation of peptide scientists.

We owe enormous gratitude to our Platinum Sponsors — Gyros Protein Technologies and WuXi Tides — for their extraordinary support. Our Gold Sponsors — Lilly, CSBio, and Bachem — have also been steadfast partners in advancing our mission.

I would also like to personally thank Lauren Cline, our incredible Society Manager, and Lars Sahl, whose talents as website architect, photographer, and content curator keep our society vibrant and connected.

Finally, it is with great confidence that I pass the torch to Professor Anna Mapp, whose leadership will surely guide APS into a bright and inspiring future.

It is such an honor to step into the role of President of the American Peptide Society. The science, the energy, and the participation from scientists at many career stages and from many different places at the 29th American Peptide Symposium was simply outstanding.

The theme of "Peptides Rising" is not just a reflection of this year’s gathering — it’s a perfect encapsulation of where our field is headed. Across therapeutic discovery, materials science, chemical biology, and beyond, peptides continue to drive innovation that impacts human health and scientific understanding on a global scale.

I am deeply grateful to Paramjit Arora for his outstanding leadership and tireless dedication to APS over the past two years. I also extend my thanks to the symposium chairs, our sponsors, and the many volunteers whose efforts made this landmark event possible.

As we look forward, I am committed to fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and forward-thinking society — one that supports all scientists as we push the boundaries of peptide science. Together, we will continue to advance the mission of APS and amplify the impact of our work.
